Welcome to Volare. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: name, email address, username, and profile photo when you create an account.
• Travel content: cities, places, photos, videos, captions, and rankings you add to the app.
• Location data: approximate location to help you find and add places near you. We only access location when you use location-based features.
• Usage data: interactions within the app such as likes, comments, and follows.
• Device information: device type and operating system, used to ensure the app functions correctly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve the Volare app experience.
• Display your travel content to you and, if your account is public, to other users.
• Enable social features such as following other travelers and viewing their posts.
• Send essential notifications related to your account and activity.
• Ensure the security and integrity of our platform.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

• Supabase: our backend and database provider, used to store your account and content data securely.
• Google Maps Platform: used to search and display place information.
• Apple App Store: as required for app distribution and in-app purchases, if applicable.

We do not share your data with advertisers or third-party marketing services.

4. Location Data

Volare requests access to your device location to help you discover and log places nearby. Location is only accessed when you actively use location-based features within the app. We do not track your location in the background.

5. Photos and Videos

When you add a place to your travel journal, you may optionally attach photos or videos from your device. These are stored securely and associated with your account. Videos are limited to 60 seconds in length.

6. Private Accounts

You may set your account to private. When your account is private, your travel content is only visible to users you approve as followers.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and export your personal data.
• Correct inaccurate information in your profile.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent for location access at any time through your device settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Volare is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Volare after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
